The Met Gala is considered the biggest and most important Fashion Red Carpet annual event. It marks the grand opening of the Costume Institute Fashion Exhibition in New York, where all attendees are expected to dress up as to match the exhibition’s theme of the year. The Met Gala 2015 theme is “China: Through The Looking Glass” which reflects the impact of Chinese aesthetics on Western Fashion. It’s not always as easy as it seems to understand the theme and make the right choice regarding the appropriate attire.
Some seem to have completely forgotten about the real purpose of the ball and instead took The Sheer Game too further, like Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé and Kim who hit the Red Carpet wearing gorgeous Haute Couture but barely there gowns, with very little left to the imagination. Ladies, it’s not a competition for the sexiest woman of the year!
On the other hand, the team "
Dare To Be Different” did in a way surprise us. Rihanna wore a magnificent yellow, fur-trimmed and embroidered, Chinese couture cape by Guo Pei (that she found on internet). Jessica Parker’s statement headpiece designed by Philip Treacy is very original and aesthetic. But my favourite is the young Zendaya Coleman who looked stunning in her Fausto Pugliesi, sun motif embroidered dress and accessories.
