My Hair Care Routine

I am so excited to share with you this post about my hair care routine. For years, I’ve met people from everywhere complementing me for my hair and asking so many questions, like how I take care of it or how I manage to keep it so long, thick and shiny. Like I mentioned in one of my previous posts, I am obsessed with my hair: I can’t imagine myself with a short cut or a sidecut hairstyle. I actually like the idea, but am not so brave to do that to my hair. My hair has always been long and full. I had it cut really short only twice or three times, between the age of eleven and fifteen: not once, I did not regret it! Since then, I had it just trimmed every 4/5 months in average. I really discourage you from trimming your hair every 2/3 months, especially if you have mid-length/short hair. Find a good professional hairstylist, someone who you trust, fully understands and respects your needs and requests. Like if you asked your hairstylist to trim your hair about an inch or two, she/he would not go further and then make up an excuse.

Now, I want to be clear and go straight to the point: there is no secrets or miracles for growing your hair long and healthy-looking! My special advise shall be: treat your hair with love and kindness and eat healthy! By eating healthy, I mean you have to stick to a diet that is rich in vitamins A (for shiny hair), B (for hair loss prevention) and C (to moisturise it), protein (to repair/prevent hair damage), and in case you suffer from hair loss, you probably want to take Biotin and Zinc supplements.

But, let’s talk about my Hair Care Routine and my favourite products!

1. My hair is not oily and never gets greasy, so I wash it every 5 days. To keep it healthy looking, I use the 2in1 Damage Therapy Shampoo by Dove: its Panted Micro moisture serum protects my hair against daily aggressions and leaves it soft and smooth. I really recommend this shampoo for everyone. Avoid rinsing your hair with hot water, as it weakens it! Do not comb or brush!

2. After shampooing my hair twice, I use the Karité & Honey Conditioner by Le Petit Marseillais: it nourishes and repairs. My hair always smells sweet after using this conditioner. I love it! Remember: Conditioning your hair is very important to protect it and hydrate it!

3. Once in a week, use a hair mask! To deep hydrate my hair and give it a brilliant shine, I use The Marvelous Mask from Garnier: its Argan Oil nourishes and protects the hair, while the Camelia Oil brings back that wonderful radiance and softness. Remember: Be wise when choosing your products, they need to be Paraben and Silicon Free!

4. My Hair Colour? Frequently, I get asked about my hair colour and where I had it done like that. Well, I decided to change a bit my hair style about a year ago and go from my natural dark chocolate brown hair to the so-called Ombré Style. So, I called my super talented hairstylist and asked her about the pros and cons of this style and if she could do a very soft Ombre on my hair. She assured me that will do no damage to my hair and convinced me to go for it, and so I did! You can see the before and after on my Instagram! About six months later, I told my hairstylist I wanted to have a bolder Ombré, hence I got this beautiful medium hazelnut blonde!

How do I maintain it? This is the best product you could ever purchase for keeping your hair colour bright and intense: it’s Framcolor Add Color Exalter from Framesi. I mix this product with the mask before applying it on my hair. Caution: wear suitable gloves at every stage of the application, rinsing and preparation process.

5. Finished with the washing process, gently squeeze you hair and eliminate the excess of water with a towel. Do not wrap your wet hair up in a turban; instead, leave it air-dry for few minutes. At this stage, you can apply a bit of oil to your wet hair. I personally like to do this after blow drying my locks. So, my choice is The Marvellous Oil by Garnier, made of Argan and Camellia oils!

6. When talking hair styling, my favourite go-to is the Styling Water with grapefruit extract: it replaces any hairspray or gel. I found mine at Monoprix.
