Healthy Skincare Regimen

They say 'true beauty comes from within’, but feeling beautiful is what makes every woman happy and confident. As Sophia Loren once said “Nothing makes a woman more beautiful than the belief that she is beautiful!”...and we all agree with that, right!
I believe, for us women feeling beautiful starts from the good habits of taking care of our skin. How?

First of all, you need to know what type of skin you have to make the right choices. So, you need to take a single ply facial tissue and lay it over your face for a few seconds, then take it off and notice:

  • Your skin is dry, if it feels tight and sometimes flaky and itchy. Dry skin can be sensitive to weather changes, ultraviolet radiation from tanning beds, etc.
  • Your skin is oily, if the tissue has kind of wet patches corresponding to areas of your face, like cheeks, forehead and nose. Oily skin can produce acne problems (blackheads, pimples and cysts).
  • You have a combination skin, if only your T-zone (forehead and nose) left oily spots on the tissue.
  • You have normal skin type, if it is even toned and feels smooth all day. You’re very lucky!

Having determined which type of skin is yours, you can now do a research on the right products to use and the bad ones to avoid. If you have acne problems, I suggest to go see a dermatologist rather than spending lot of effort and money in buying cosmetics that won’t work for you and can cause more harm to your skin.
Regardless of your skin type, you should build up a healthy skincare regimen:

  1. Use a gentil Cleanser to clean your face from dirt, oil and makeup
  2. A water based Toner (for dry ans sensitive skins) or an Astringent (for oily and combination ones) will help restore the skin’s natural pH balance and remove the last traces of makeup.
  3. A good Exfoliant will eliminate all the build-up of dead skin cells and reveal a new radiant skin.
  4. Always use a Moisturizer (w/sunscreen during the day) to protect your skin from the sun’s ultraviolet radiations and help it look healthier and younger.

Floral Prints

Flowers are like the fluffy clouds in the sky, the Nutella pot in my breakfast menu, the soft pillow on my bed...without flowers, my life would be a sad and miserable one. Flowers are a source of inspiration for me as much as it has been for fashion designers for decades. To match my casual attire, I pulled out my Gucci Flora Bag from the Gucci's 2013 Spring/Summer Collection. I had a crush for it then and still have now! It's so feminine and graceful! Do you know the importance of flowers in some cultures? My Oniarai jeans tells us all about the East Asia cultural bond with flowers. Each flower  carries a special symbolism and very often conveys a positive message. I really admire how Chinese and Japanese value trees and flowers! By the way, I bought my jeans at the Deji Palaza, which is the new luxury brand mall in Nanjing, China.

It seems that I like to go against the wind: while everyone's posting about the fall season -leaves on the ground, leaves falling from the trees - and their autumnal outfit and makeup looks, I am still enjoying the craziness of this transitional weather and the beautiful fall blooming flowers! I know that transitional weathers are not really welcome, because it can sometimes be hard to predict the heat wave or the cold spell, or even those unexpected rainfalls; but it is up to you to dress smart. A leather or a denim jacket can be the perfect layer for day and night. For what concerns shoes, I personally prefer not to cover my feet too much, so stilettos and moccasins work best for me...but I would keep a pair of sneakers in the trunk of my car as well (crazy weather, remember?). Ok, now enjoy the floral pictures!

Beautiful Simple Melody

It is in my instinct to look around me and observe the details of a place whenever I go somewhere new. It is not just the interior design, the colours or the shapes...no, it's the going in search of something that inspires, something that we relate to, whether it is a wall or a chair, a song or a drink. Walking around the lobby area of the beautiful hotel La Cigale in Tabarka, I loved the interior design and found three things that instantly grabbed my attention and stole my heart like a beautiful simple melody:

The piano, my all time favourite music instrument and the must deco piece for my dream house. Since ever, I've always loved the piano, its sound and shape. I would listen to piano solos for hours and not get enough of it. If I was a pianist, I would just express my feelings by writing and playing melodies. Definitely! Another unique deco element I go insane about is the aquarium. Whenever I see one, It's euphoria! Water, fishes, the peace and quiet, and much more...all this represents me as an Aquarian. I think that explains it all! Last but not least, it's the big couch in the relaxing reading space: ah, so comfortable! Also it reminded me of my place in Sousse, same style and same warm colours. It felt like home away from home!

Chilling By The Pool!

In a beautiful sunny day of October, you just don't want to miss the sun because you still haven't had enough of it and want to get more tanned or -just like I would ironically say, If somebody put his nose into my business- (I) have Vitamin D deficiency! But seriously, these are the perfect days to catch up on some rays by the pool. It must be so fun to have a pool in the backyard of the house, imagine how many cool things you can do:

1. Tanning at any time: which means whether you're doing a free-time activity or just having breakfast in the backyard, you can get free tanning all the year around - of course, if you're living in a hot country.

2. Wakeup sun tanned: I know we all do take a nap at the beach, but the chance to fall asleep on the pool lounge chair after party and wakeup sun tanned? well, that's a privilege to a few!

3. Do the jumping game: let's admit it! We all want to do that crazy jump in the pool, but don't have the guts to do that in public, because it is embarrassing and we fear something goes wrong, huh?

4. Invite some friends over for a barbecue by the pool: that's super fun!

5. Do all lazy exercises: say Adieu to the gym and tone it up in the pool!

6. Practicing Yoga: Outdoor Yoga is better than indoor, but Yoga water workout shall be your next challenge!

7. Throw up a pool party!

8. Do some creative photo shootings...Indeed!

9. Take an afternoon English tea with your BFF by the pool

10. Surprise your love with a romantic dinner with a pool view...

...and the list goes on!

Autumn Special Getaway

Hello September! I used to dislike this month, because it was synonymous of "End of Summer", "End of Holidays", "Back to School", "Back to the Routine", "Back to the cold days"...but it ain't like that no more, not for me! As we grow up, we change and everything changes around us, sometimes for the good and sometimes for the bad...but at the end of the day, we appreciate the toughness and the sweetness of life!

I remember when back in the days my family and I used to spend our Summer time in a beautiful tiny fishing village in Tunisia for the long period of July and August. Those are  memories I cherish and wish my future children could experience.

I also remember when at my first internship, my tutor was so excited about her dream vacation in Egypt and would articulate random words related to her holidays in different notes and sounds: only "September" would sound unusual to me! "She's going on holiday in September?" I just couldn't figure that out. But now I know that sounds about right..and cool!

I am just lucky to be part of those who go on holidays in late Summer or in Autumn, when everyone else is back to work or school. What makes it special? Booking is easier and at 100% you won't be disturbed by children crying or running and jumping everywhere (coz all we need is relax)!

And for what concerns the "what to wear", just keep it simple: all you need is your swimwear(s), a pair of sunglasses and a kaftan!
